Nero 11 - burn error!
Q:Hi I have recently purchased nero 11 and am having major trouble burning an AVI file onto DVD. I use Nero Video and followed through as necessary - the DVD ejects out at the end with a message saying there was a burn error. I have no idea why it does this - other than maybe the file I am trying to burn is write-protected?? Nero 11 appears to carry out the transcoding fine..Is there some way of checking whether it is write-protected?? Any help/advice gratefully received!
A:
In Windows Media Player, drag it to the playlist area on the right. Right click on it and select Properties. Look under the Media Usage Rights.
Please post the nerovideolog.txt file. I assume you have Vista or Win 7. If so, it's in this path- C:\Users"user name"\AppData\Roaming\Nero\Nero 11\Nero Vision. For XP, it's somewhere in C:\Documents and Settings.
Q: Have done and this is what is says: 'The file is missing media usage rights'
A: So we don't know. Is it something you downloaded?
Please post the log file I asked for.
Q:Am using windows xp...and a very old laptop!
I saved a copy of the error log file - is this what you mean?
A:I want you to upload it here.
When you open Add Reply in the forum, select Browse and browse to the file. Click on it and select Open. Then select UPLOAD. When it's done, just add your reply.
Try a burn at 2x or 4x instead of 8x. Does that work?
A:a) You got a media error.
So, try lower writing speeds or try other brand of media
b) You are using an outdated version - please update (start control center -> check for updates)
A:The reason I asked you to try a slower burn is because you have a media error. The most obvious cause of this problem was the burn speed, which is high for most DVD's and burners. However, if reducing the burn speed doesn't work, we recommend that you try either a different disc because one disc in a batch can be faulty, a different batch of discs, or a different brand of discs (strange as it sounds, some drives work better with different brands of disc).
I think it is unlikely that a slower burn than 4x will help so please post the logs.
Q:
I think the problem may also be with the nero update - I do not think I updated properly after installing nero 11. When I try to update now - it does bring up a whole list of updates needed but doesnt seem to install them properly - the very last bar on the status bar seems to take forever to finish..in fact I have tried it again now and the same thing is happening -and the the control cebtre itself seems unresponsiveness - perhaps this is the cause of the burn errors?? in which case - what do i do next??
sorry - last bit should read:
and the the control centre itself seems unresponsive - perhaps this is the cause of the burn errors?? in which case - what do i do next??
A:The installation problem can be handled later.
The log indicates that NV is behaving as it should.
I'm caught betwixt and between on this one.
I looked up the video you're using and, to me, it appears to be something that would be protected. However, the log doesn't give a clear indication that protection is an issue, unless that's why it's giving a VMGI parser error. Try burning one of the sample videos that comes with Nero (at 4x). Does that work?
On the other hand, there's some other things that could affect not only the burn issue but also the installation issue.
Is it true that you have only roughly 5 Gb of free hard drive space? If so, that could affect both.
In regards to the media, go here- http://www.nero.com/enu/downloads-free-tools.php and download and install Nero DiscSpeed. Open it and run both the Benchmark and Create Disc options using one of your discs. What is the optimum burn speed? Do you get any errors?
Q:OK well the update has been sorted out - just had to be a little more patient with it and it went through.
The really bizarre thing here is that on two separate occasions today - nero says it has successfully burned the video (at x4) but when I look to see if the file is on the disc - the dvd is empty - and doesn't show it all.
Yes I'm using a rather old laptop which has limited free hard drive - did I post that on here before?
Will try and burn one of the sample videos at x4 and report back
Have got the following information:
Benchmark - Error Invalid Field in CDB (052400)
Create disc options -
[20:38:48] Drive:
[20:38:48] Disc: DVD+R (empty), 4.38 GB, RITEK F16
[20:38:48] Drive: AOPEN DVD RW ISU8424E 1.10
[20:39:23] Disc: DVD+R (empty), 4.38 GB, RITEK F16
[20:39:26] Creating Data Disc
[21:40:53] Speed:1 X CLV (0.93 X average)
[21:40:54] Elapsed Time: 61:28
What does this mean?
A:I believe the problem is the SCSI CDB which is used to issue instructions to SCSI devices. I don't have time to delve into tonight but that might explain part of the problem. You could try a different disc or different batch of discs.
Can you post the newest log file?
Q:Have tried a different make of dvd - and problem sorted! Thank you for your help!
A:Excellent! I'm glad I could help.
End: To solve this kind of Problem
1 burn a data DVD at the lowest speed to see if the problem the same
2 If the same change another mark of your DVD and try again, if works the new DVD can be burned, if still not work you should change your burner.
3 If there is no Problem, it's may be data error, use format factory to reformat the Video then try again.
