Q: Hi Folks,

My first post, so please be gentle with me

I'm using the free version of Nero BurnLite 10, and also Nero QuickMedia 11. I'm fairly new to all this ripping and burning stuff, but managed to successfully compress then burn a short DVD film to a DVD-R. So far so good. The problem came when I tried to copy another short film onto the same disc. I followed exactly the same procedure as before to compress the file, but when I tried to burn it to disc with BL, it kept ejecting the disc and giving me the error message, "Waiting for Target Disc". To be clear, the disc I'm using to copy to is NOT full. It has a capacity of 4.7GB (120-minutes), and even with the first film 'on board', still has 3.90GB of free space. The second film I'm trying to burn (like the first) runs for less than 10-minutes so there should be no problem about lack of disc space.

Does any one know what might be causing this error? Even better, can you suggest a cure for it (preferably in plain English for us non-techies).

Thanks!

A: It wants an empty disc.

I don't think you can add to a DVD-Video disc because of the disc structure which, I believe, prevents you from making it multi-session as you can with a data disc.

I think you would need to start a new project and add the individual videos and then burn it. If you had the suite, you could import the disc you already made and add the additional files in Nero Video and then burn. As far as I can tell, you can't add files from a disc to the Kwik Media Library.

A:Initially I would try the Nero Vision facility to check if the disc has been FINALISED. This facility can be found either in the 'MORE' menu of the opening screen of the program or from the 'DISC TOOL' link of one of the on-screen display boxes. As you have stated that you have used a DVD-R disco I would consider that it is CLOSED/FINALIZED. The use of the FREE TOOLS may give you a pointer as to whether the disco is CLOSED/FINALIZED

Although I have not fully used Nero Vision of Kirk Media I would consider that these routine would automatically 'FINALIZE' a project disco so that it can be used on DVD Players.

The statement that wither has made I believe, would be correct about starting a NEW PROJECT. So if you wish to have 2 videos on the same destination disco then you would have to somehow combine them at source, that is IMPORTING EACH VIDEO to make one project and then this to a disc.
