error code of nero

Q:i have just downloaded nero 11 trial and on instalation i get this message microsoft vc redist 2008 kb973552 (x86) has failed. setup will now exit i have tried windows update but no update was found i have never use nero before so i dont have another conflicting on my harddrive iam running windows 7 home premium 64bit your help would be appreciated thanx

A:Try disabling anti-virus and any security software prior to the installation.

Q:i run avast paid version and i disabled that but still get same error

Q:ok downloaded from link but come up repair or uninstall as apparently i already have it so i uninstaled and instaled with what i just downloaded but still same error
are you sure that nero 11 is compatible with windows 7 64bit

A:I have v11 on Vista 64 bit and Win 7 64bit. It's also compatible with XP SP3 32 bit.

As I understand it, you were able to uninstall and reinstall the downloaded redistributable. Is that correct?

Right click on the v11 downloaded .exe file and select "run as administrator". Does that work?

A:You didn't answer my first question.

A:Something is obviously blocking it. That's why I asked about the anti-virus.

I assume that you can reinstall Avast if it's uninstalled. I would suggest uninstalling Avast and then trying it.

A：Rather than have you chase your tail, go to nero.com- downloads- tools and download the "get support files" utility. Run that. That will get the nerosupport.cab.

Send an e-mail to tech support and attach the .cab file. Either tell them the things you've tried or reference this thread.

Let us know what they find.

Q:sorry it took so long to get back to you but nero just got back to me this is what they told me to do and basically it skips the install packages at the begining were i was getting the error message everything is installed fine now thanx for your help

In case you have the installation problem as you mentioned in your previous emails again , please check the following steps:

Then Please proceed as follows:
(1)First run the downloaded installer until the extraction process is complete and click on cancel to abort the installation.
(2)Please Click on the Windows “ Start” button ->"Run"->Enter %temp% there ,then the Temp folder opens.
(3)Navigate to the extracted Nero folder NeroInstallFiles\\Nero2011x (x for version).
(4)Open this folder and execute the "nero.mmsplatinum.msi" and the installation process starts.
(5)Enter your serial number number during the installation.
